This colourful carpet/rug made by the Bakthiari tribe of southwest Iran can be dated back to circa 1970. Staying true to their style this carpet/rug has a cornucopian design that uses geometrical and floral motifs in a stylized manner. It has two medallions on either end of the centre. This is surrounded by cyprus and geometric rose motifs spread through the rest of the field. The carpet/rug has strong wool that is typical of the region. The colours are bold and numerous which is a signature of the tribe and include primarily navy blue, bright blue, pink yellow and brown. This carpet/rug would add a bold look to both a classical and contemporary setting owing to its geometric stylization.
