The Taimani tribe of central Afghanistan have woven this elegant Barjesta carpet/rug. It was made between 1970-1980 which makes it approxiately 40-50 years old. The motifs used in the carpet/rug are very stylized which makes the floral designs slightly geometric. This is a signature of the Barjesta carpets/rugs. The carpet/rug is three dimensional as it is a mixture of a flatweave and a knotted rug. The wool used in the carpet/rug is locally sourced and the dyes are naturally obtained. Colours include mainly rust, brick and brown. As is the case with other tribal rugs there will come a time when this carpet/rug becomes a boastful possesion.
This carpet/rug is readily available to ship.
