A beautiful rug made by the Taimani tribe of Central Afghanistan during the 1970s which makes it approximately 50 years old. The motifs used in the carpet/rug are very stylized versions of traditional flowers and geometric lozenge motifs. This is a signature of the Barjesta carpets/rugs. The unique feature of this particular rug is that it has a border that has a pile, a sort of signature from an individualistic weaver. Both the Warp,Weft and the Pile are made from locally sourced wool which are made from natural dyes. Colours include mainly brick red, white, rust and blue. As is the case with other tribal carpets/rugs, it is an extremely rare piece of art. This beautiful carpet/rug is a great addition to a modern or traditional decor.
