This is a beautiful kilim made by the Kurdish tribes who live in and around Senneh, Iran. The Kurdish are some of the finest weavers of kilims and rugs/carpets in the region. Typical to their style the most dominant motif is their unique version of the Boteh spread throughout the rug. This particular kilim is a slit weave kilim where two weft yarns are woven with the warp yarns creating a clear line between the different colours. It is an extremely tightly woven rug. Both the Warp,Weft and the Pile are made from locally sourced wool which are dyed using natural materials. Colours include mainly red, green, grey, beige, orange, pink and dark blue. As is the case with other tribal carpets/rugs, it is an extremely rare piece of art. This beautiful carpet/rug is a great addition to a modern or traditional decor.
