This is a vintage Afghan mehrab rug made by the tribals in Northern region i and around circa 1940. The design consists of 9 mehrabs and a large chandelier motif arranged in the form of a prayer mat. High quality wool and vegetable dyes used on the carpet are sourced by the tribe from their own flock and surroundings. The colours used on the rug are brown, blue, dark brown and beige.
