A nomadic carpet made by the Balochi people of Afghanistan. This woollen carpet/rug was made in circa 1970. It is an extremely rare carpet/rug whose abstract design draws its inspiration from the flora of the regions the nomadic people visit. It is an extremely stylized version of the tree of life carpet/rug where the tree springs from diagonally opposite ends of the field and ends at the centre. The abrash or variation in colour that occurs due to the use of natural dyes and locally procured wool add a rustic feel to the woollen carpet/rug. The colours primarily include beige, brick, rust, blue and green.
