This is a beautiful kilim made by the Ersari tribe in Afghanistan. The design has small compartments spread throughout the kilim, it is separated by a dotted border.The Kilim has a unique structure where the wefts are used as design elements and not just for structural purposes. This type of Kilim is called a Soumak Kilim. Soumak Kilims are generally superior in construction when compared to other types of Kilims.Colours include rust, blue and beige.
