A stunning and extremely rare kilim made during the early 1900s by the Qashqai of Iran. Along with the Caucasian rugs they are the most sought after Tribal rugs in the world. An anglicized version of the Boteh motif is spread th The Kilim has a unique structure where the wefts are used as design elements and not just for structural purposes. This type of Kilim is called a Soumak Kilim. Soumak Kilims are generally superior in construction when compared to other types of Kilims.Colours include red,black,blue-grey and white. The Socio-Ethnographic conditions that existed at the time of making this are non existent today. These are extremely rare and sought after carpets/rugs.
