This stunning Caucasian Kilim was made between 1950-1960. This makes it approximately 60-70 years old. It was inspired by the famous Karabhag carpet/rug. The Kilim has a unique structure where the wefts are used as design elements and not just for structural purposes. This type of Kilim is called a Soumak Kilim. Soumak Kilims are genrally superior in construction when compared to other types of Kilims. The Kilim has one large hexagonal central medallion with geometric motifs in and around it with a triple layered border. Colours include tan, brow, beige and black. The Socio-Ethnographic conditions that existed at the time of making this are non existant today. These are extremely rare and sought after carpets/rugs.
This carpet/rug is readily available to ship.
