A stunning and extremely rare kilim made during circa 1940 in the Caucasus. The design has hexagonal shaped motifs spread through the field of the rug in alternating colours. The Kilim has a unique structure where the wefts are used as design elements and not just for structural purposes. This type of Kilim is called a Soumak Kilim. Soumak Kilims are generally superior in construction when compared to other types of Kilims.Colours include red, orange, blue and beige. The Socio-Ethnographic conditions that existed at the time of making this are non existent today. These are extremely rare and sought after carpets/rugs.
