This carpet from the Andkhoy region of Afghanistan is of exquisite tribal heritage. The carpet was woven by the Ersari Turkmen who are one of the largest groups of Turkmen. The design of the carpet has a very geometric and stylized medallion and motifs. Fine local hand spun wool is used on the rug, it is soft and lustrous. Natural or Vegetable dyes are used on the rug, the colours are orange, red, indigo blue, white and black.
