This intricate Kashmiri silk carpet/rug has an all over pattern. The field of the carpet has small iris, peony and rose motifs spread throughout. Each of these are connected to each other by scrolling vines. The border of the carpet has scrolling vines with floral motifs aligned linearly. The primary colours used on the carpet are maroon, beige, sea green and dark blue. It is a silk on silk carpet/rug which means that both the pile and warp are made of silk. The silk used is extremely fine mulberry silk.
