This beautiful Qalinow kilim was made during the late 1980s by the Taimani tribe in Central Afghanistan. The motifs used in the rug are angular and stylized with a large central medallion and with typical kilim ends. This is a signature of the Barjesta carpets/rugs. This is called a Qalinow kilim as it is a mix of a piled rug and a kilim. Both the Warp,Weft and the Pile are made from locally sourced wool which are dyed using natural materials. Colours include mainly red, beige, orange, rust, blue and green. As is the case with other tribal carpets/rugs, it is an extremely rare piece of art. This beautiful carpet/rug is a great addition to a modern or traditional decor.
