This beautiful Kashmiri silk carpet/rug has been inspired by carpets made in Qum, Iran. It has what is called a goumband design, which is a representation of the dome and pillars of iconic architecture from Persia. It has a large Central medallion surrounded by pillars. Within these there are small motifs that show the cermaic tiles used in archeological sights across Persia. The primary colours used on the carpet/rug off white, gold, light grey and dark blue. The carpet is made by master weaver Hamdani and signed by him. It is a silk on silk carpet/rug which means that both the warp and pile are made of silk. The carpet has a high knot count.
