This is a vintage Turkoman rug made by the Taghan sub tribe. It was made in Circa 1950 in and around Afghanistan by the nomadic people. It has three rows of guls alternating with star like motifs. The wool used on the rug is soft and the colours used are sourced from vegetables, fruits and stones. The colours used on the rug are red, blue black, orange, brown and green.The Turkoman can be considered as one of the earliest rug makers of the world. It was through them that it spread throughout Central and West Asia.
